Mary Anne Malinka

Mary Anne Malinka, 75, passed away on Friday morning, Oct. 14, 2016. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin.

Anne was born on March 14, 1941, in Franklin to Robert and Mary (Smith) Tranter. She married Robert “Bob” Malinka on Aug. 22, 1965. He survives in Franklin.

She is also survived by three daughters, Julie (Malinka) Pelton (Greg) of Saline, Michigan, Amy (Malinka) Mitchell (Brad) of Indianapolis, and Laurie Malinka of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Cole Alexander Pelton and Connor Robert Pelton, both of Saline, Michigan; and sister-in-law, Jody (Friddle) Tranter of Franklin.

She was preceded in passing by her parents and brother, Robert Tranter Jr.

Anne was a 1959 graduate of Franklin High School. She was a 1964 graduate of Miami of Ohio in Oxford, Ohio, where she received her bachelor’s degree in art education.

She was a preschool teacher at East Side Preschool, retiring after many years of dedicated service. She also was employed by the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office in victim’s assistance and also worked for the Johnson County Welfare Department conducting home visitations. She also enjoyed working at a variety of different arts and crafts shops.

Anne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Franklin. She was also a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, a past president of Tri Psi Sorority, and a member of the Franklin Women’s Study Club. She was an avid bridge player. Anne loved spending time with her family and her dogs.

The Rev. Richard Martin will conduct a celebration of Anne’s life at 11 a.m. today at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Johnson County, 3827 N. Graham Road, Franklin, IN 46131.
