Edwin Leroy Thompson

TRAFALGAR

Edwin Leroy Thompson, 80, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Trafalgar.

He was born on Dec. 21, 1935, in Indianapolis, to George and Dorothy Mae (Sylvester) Thompson. Ed married Myra Lou Wilson on Dec. 22, 1956. She lovingly survives.

He is also survived by their six children, Alan Thompson (fiancé, Rita), Gary Thompson (friend, Jane), Sherri (Thompson) DuFriend, Dale Thompson (Dorrina); Cathy (Thompson) Simpson (Eddie) and Nan (Thompson) Richards (John); 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul Thompson (Lynn).

He was preceded in passing by his parents; two brothers, Rawlin and George Earl Thompson; and one sister, Geraldine Thompson.

Ed attended Washington High School in Indianapolis.

He was employed by Rumpke, retiring after many years of dedicated service. He most recently was employed by Howard’s Machine Shop as a machinist.

Ed was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Franklin. He was an avid coin collector.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
