RICHMOND, Texas — Investigators say a Houston-area man fatally shot his wife and his son before taking his own life during a domestic disturbance at their house.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday identified the victims as 33-year-old Sofya Ali and her stepson, 24-year-old Edris Edris.

Authorities say preliminary evidence indicates 58-year-old Ali Edris killed his wife and son, at the family’s home near Richmond, then turned the gun on himself. Ali Edris died later at a hospital.

Investigators have not released a possible motive for the shootings witnessed by an 8-year-old relative who ran across the street to a neighbor’s home to summon help. Authorities didn’t immediately say how the uninjured boy was related to the victims.

The sheriff’s office had no record of prior disturbance calls at the home.
