SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Scottsdale City Council has approved a $135,000 settlement to end a discrimination lawsuit filed by a former City Court clerk although she won’t get her job back.

Nicole Rerucha claimed she was fired in 2012 because of health complications from her pregnancy.

She missed more than two months of work in 2011 after being diagnosed with two conditions that presented health risks for her and the baby.

Rerucha filed a federal lawsuit last year.

She asked the U.S. District Court to award lost wages, job reinstatement and damages for emotional suffering.

The city denied liability and both parties sought a jury trial.

A settlement was reached late last month during mediation before a federal magistrate.

The City Council approved the settlement unanimously and without public discussion Monday.
