Jimmie Franklin, 94, of Greenwood, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016.

He was born March 13, 1922, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Charles Franklin and Amanda Frances (Bohannon) Moore.

Jimmie, who was known as “Ben” at work, retired from Eli Lilly in 1986.

He was a member of the Masons for 52 years and Franklin Road Baptist Church.

Jimmie enjoyed traveling with his wife, Mary, and reading books about history.

He was a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 67 years, Mary Elizabeth (Rivers) Franklin; eight siblings; and great-grandson, Joshua David Rose.

Jimmie is survived by his daughter, Jane (Jim) Grizzel; twin sister, Amanda Frances Smoot; grandchildren, Christine (James) Guzman and Jim (Kim) Grizzel; great-grandchildren, TJ, Dustin and Chelsea Rose, Kaylee, Kloee and Klayton Grizzel and Grace Guzman; great-great-grandchild, Colton Rose; and grand-dog, Molly.

Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
