SALT LAKE CITY — The wife of a Layton man shot and injured by a Unified police officer is facing charges for her alleged involvement in the incident.

The Deseret News reports ( ) 18-year-old Kelli Rachelle Huth was charged Friday with obstructing justice and assaulting a police officer.

Huth and her 20-year-old husband, Damian Huth, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant, had been pulled over by police Wednesday in Kearns.

Court documents say Kelli Huth jumped on the officer who tried to arrest her husband, allowing him to get away.

An officer chased after Damian Huth and shot him in the shoulder.

Police say Damian Huth wasn’t armed and the circumstances of what prompted the shooting are still under investigation.

He was hospitalized for his injuries and expected to be booked into jail.
