DANBURY, Conn. — Police in Connecticut are investigating the weekend shooting death of a woman found in her Danbury apartment.

Officers responding to reports of shots fired went to the South Street apartment complex and found 31-year-old Sherrie Blount at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been announced, but police say they do not believe there is any ongoing danger to the public.

Neighbors tell the Danbury News Times that the woman lived in the apartment with her husband and four children, and sometimes the children’s grandfather helped out. The victim was described as friendly and kind.

Anyone with information about the death is being asked to call police.
