Franciscan Physician Network hires doctor

Dr. Tonye Teme has joined Franciscan Physician Network Indiana Heart Physicians.

Teme is board-certified in internal medicine and echocardiography and board-eligible in general cardiology. He most recently completed a fellowship in electrophysiology at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, where he also completed fellowship training in cardiology.

Teme received his undergraduate degree in biology from Purdue University and earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed a residency in internal medicine at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University.

Franciscan Health Weight Loss Center was recently reaccredited as a comprehensive center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program.

The standards ensure bariatric surgical patients receive a multidisciplinary program, not just a surgical procedure, which improves patient outcomes and long-term success. The accredited center offers preoperative and postoperative care designed specifically for their severely obese patients.

The center is led by Bariatric Surgery Directors Drs. Jonathan Mandelbaum and Hazem Shamseddeen.

Our Hospice Concert includes raffle for dental services

The 30th annual Our Hospice Concert featuring Peter Cetera with opening band, LemonWheel, drew over 8,000 people to Mill Race Park in Columbus in early September to celebrate 30 Years of Music in the Park.

The concert, designated as an official bicentennial legacy event, demonstrated the generosity of the community which helped Our Hospice exceed the year’s fundraising goal.

Increased raffle ticket sales helped make this the best year ever as the Concert raised $120,000 in net revenue, exceeding the $100,000 goal.

Sixty-three Greenwood-area residents obtained free dental services from Honey Grove Family Dentistry on Sept. 24 for the office’s Free Dentistry Day.

Dr. Christina Popoviciu and team provided free oral health care to the community. The day is a program aimed at providing dental care to Americans without dental insurance.

The doctors and team members provided over $25,700 worth of dentistry including cleanings, extractions and fillings to local people throughout the day.

Credit Union donates to Center Grove schools

Indiana Members Credit Union recently presented a check for more than $3,300 to Center Grove schools as part of an ongoing school spirit debit card program.

The partnership allows Center Grove fans the opportunity to show school spirit and support the athletic program by signing up for a Center Grove Trojans-themed debit card. Every time the card is used, Center Grove athletics benefits.

Since beginning the program in 2013, IMCU has donated $6,808 to Center Grove High School.

Ruoff Home Mortgage announces top loan originator

Residential mortgage lender Ruoff Home Mortgage announced that Donnie Dodson was the top loan originator for the Greenwood branch office for the month of September. The top spot in each branch office and the company as a whole, is based on the number of closed loans during the month, as compared to peers.

Dodson has been with Ruoff Home Mortgage since May 2015. He has won the top companywide spot several times, including last month.
