OXFORD, N.Y. — Authorities have charged two people in the slaying of a man whose body was found inside a central New York home last month.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office says Thursday that 46-year-old Jeremy Coates of Norwich has been charged with first-degree murder and 42-year-old Melissa Crispell of Oxford have been charged with second-degree murder in the beating death of 58-year-old David Green.

Deputies responding to a Sept. 26 call about a body found Green dead inside a home in rural Oxford, 50 miles southeast of Syracuse.

Police believe he was killed sometime over the previous weekend. Officials say he was beaten to death.

Investigators believe Green was killed during a robbery.

Both suspects are in the county jail. It couldn’t be determined if they have lawyers.
