NEW ORLEANS — Two federal convicts from Louisiana were among the 102 granted sentence cuts Thursday by President Barack Obama:
— Karl Eugene Peacock of Bossier City was sentenced to 20 years in prison in a 2005 case for possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. The sentence was cut to just over 18 years.
— Jason Rakel of Shreveport was sentenced to 20 years in 2006 for violating federal laws against manufacturing or distributing drugs. His sentence was commuted to expire on Oct. 6, 2018, conditioned upon enrollment in residential drug treatment.
