Library group hosts Freetown Village Singers

Johnson County Public Library’s annual Friends’ meeting will celebrate Hoosier history and storytelling with song on Oct. 11.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. at the White River library, a short meeting will commence, followed by light refreshments and a program featuring the Freetown Village Singers.

The group preserves African-American traditions and culture through storytelling and song. They will present an interactive collection of traditional folk songs singing in a cappella. The performance will be approximately 30 minutes long with time for questions afterward.

The public is invited to attend the Friends of JCPL annual meeting to learn more about the Friends and enjoy fun entertainment for the whole family. You do not have to be a Friends member to attend this event, however they are always looking for excited volunteers.

The Friends of Johnson County Public Library are a nonprofit group that supports library services and resources while sharing their love of books with the community.

The library has many more fall and Halloween-oriented programs in store for the month of October.
