GREAT FALLS, Mont. — Cascade County prosecutors want to charge a 16-year-old Great Falls boy as an adult in the drug-related stabbing death of a Great Falls High student.
County Attorney John Parker filed a deliberate homicide charge Monday against the boy in the Sept. 23 death of 18-year-old Megan Meriwether.
Prosecutors allege the boy and his girlfriend, 18-year-old Brianna Coombs, had planned to steal marijuana from Meriwether.
Court records say Meriwether tried to stab Coombs in the leg and that the boy joined the struggle, stabbing Meriwether in the neck.
The Great Falls Tribune reports the state requested a hearing to determine if the case will remain in District Court or be transferred to Youth Court.
Coombs is charged with assault with a weapon by accountability and solicitation to commit distribution of dangerous drugs. She has not entered a plea.
