ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska State Troopers have released the name of the passenger killed Sunday afternoon in the crash of a commercial flight in southwest Alaska.

Troopers say 49-year-old Louie John died of Manokotak (man-oh-KOH-tak) died in the crash of a Cessna 208B operated by Hageland Aviation. Troopers on Wednesday had initially misidentified the victim as Luis John.

John was one of three people killed. Troopers have not released the names of the pilot and co-pilot because they have not verified that their next of kin have been notified.

The airplane was on 70-mile flight from Quinhagak (KWIN-a-gahk) to Togiak (TOH-gee-ak) when it crashed on a mountainside 12 miles northwest of Togiak.

Troopers described the crash site as rough, steep and challenging.

This story has been corrected to show that Alaska State Troopers initially misidentified the victim as Luis John instead of Louie John.
