NEW CASTLE, Del. — A woman in New Castle County has been charged with hitting her boyfriend with a car and leaving the scene.

Local news organizations report that the 20-year-old unidentified woman turned herself into police on Sunday and was charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in an injury.

New Castle County police Cpl. Tracey Duffy says the woman struck her 22-year-old boyfriend Saturday night. Duffy says the man got out of a parked car and ran in front of the woman’s vehicle. The woman was unable to stop and hit him with the car’s front bumper.

The man was taken to the hospital for injuries to his lower leg.

The woman has since been released on her own recognizance.
