Area bands get honors at invitationals

Three local marching bands competed at area invitationals.

The Marching Woodmen and Irish Guard placed first in Class B at Ben Davis High School.

The band’s performance earned them awards for best music, visual and general effect.

Indian Creek’s Marching Braves earned first place in Scholastic Class B at the Decatur Central Invitational.

Whiteland’s Marching Warriors placed sixth in Class A at Ben Davis.

The Roncalli marching band earned a gold rating at the Indian State School Music Festival Marching Band competition at Southport High School.

Center Grove’s marching band did not compete and are gearing up for their annual Cavalcade of Champions Saturday, where Greenwood will march at 6:35 p.m.

Whiteland, Indian Creek and Franklin will be at the Indiana State School Music Association scholastic preliminaries at Whiteland Community High School this weekend.

The Blue Regiment at Franklin Community High School marched at Franklin’s Fall Festival parade.
