DALLAS, Ga. — Authorities are investigating an incident involving two police officers who fired multiple shots at a driver accused in a hit-and-run in northwest Georgia.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation special agent Greg Ramsey says driver Cody McKenzie “initially complied” after Dallas police officers responded to the hit-and-run incident around 11 p.m. Saturday. But as officers got closer, the 25-year-old McKenzie started his car and attempted to run over them.
Ramsey says the two officers fired multiple shots into the vehicle, which crashed. The officers used a stun gun on McKenzie before taking him into custody.
Ramsey says McKenzie’s right arm was wounded.
Cody is being held at the Paulding County Detention Center without bond. He’s charged with aggravated assault, attempting to elude police, obstruction of law enforcement and DUI alcohol.
