LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Little Rock police are investigating after a pair of shootings left two people dead and two others injured.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports ( ) the shootings happened less than 2 miles apart late Friday, but investigators say they don’t appear to be related.

The names of the victims weren’t immediately released as police searched for witnesses.

Police Lt. Steve McClanahan says the victim in the first homicide was shot in the upper body while driving a car. The man then pushed down on the accelerator, causing his car to crash through a fence and hit a house. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the victim in the second homicide was pronounced dead at a hospital after being shot about a block north of Little Rock Central High School.
