GRAND FORKS, N.D. — The University of North Dakota Police Department says it has concluded its investigation into a photo with a racist caption involving students that was posted on social media earlier this month.
Police say the individual who filed the harassment complaint didn’t want to move forward with a criminal investigation. The department says its findings have been forwarded to the school’s Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
The photo was captured Sept. 20 on the mobile app Snapchat. It shows three white students and the caption included a derogatory term toward women.
Police and the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities began investigating after authorities received the complaint. Another racially charged photo later surfaced on Snapchat.
UND in a statement says it’s “committed to thoroughly investigating complaints that may violate its policies.”
