SALI opens National Abstract Art Exhibition

The Southside Art League’s annual national abstract art exhibit opens this weekend at Garfield Park in Indianapolis.

The exhibit is dedicated to showcasing the best two-dimensional abstract paintings from across the country. All 49 paintings are for sale, and art collectors are advised to come early for the best selection.

The work of 37 professional artists from seven states — California, Texas, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia and Indiana — were juried by an expert into the exhibit, and represent a wide variety of contemporary media and techniques.

The artists will be available to meet with art enthusiasts at a black tie-optional opening reception and awards ceremony 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The arts center is in the park near the historic pagoda at Garfield Park. Free parking and the entrance is at the lower level. Exhibit hours are 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, noon to 4 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
