HARRISBURG, Pa. — A California man described as having dementia has been found dead in a central Pennsylvania creek.
Swatara Township police say 69-year-old William Pettis was from Venice Beach, but was visiting relatives before his body was found in Spring Creek. The creek and township are near Harrisburg.
Police say someone walking on a trail spotted the body about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Dauphin County coroner has scheduled an autopsy for Thursday, though police say they don’t expect foul play.
The man’s family says he had traveled by bus to Pennsylvania for a recent family function.
