GLENDALE, Ariz. — A former Phoenix firefighter is accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman under a Glendale bridge.

Glendale police say 52-year-old Jeffrey Charles Wilson was booked into jail on suspicion of one count each of sexual assault, kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Wilson was ordered held without bond at his initial court appearance Wednesday. He doesn’t have a lawyer yet.

The woman told police she was walking around 6 a.m. Sunday when a vehicle drove past her several times and a man started following her on foot.

The woman says the man grabbed her by the hair, pulled her under the bridge, pointed a gun at her and sexually assaulted her.

Phoenix Fire Department officials say Wilson was demoted from captain earlier this year and fired in July.
