Local marching bands earn top 5 spots

Local marching bands snagged top five spots at a local invitational and one band took first place at another Indiana invitational.

Center Grove High School’s Marching Trojans placed first at Avon High School, also earning caption awards for best music, general effect, auxiliary (guard) and percussion.

The Marching Warriors of Whiteland Community High School placed second in Class A at the Greenwood Invitational.

The Blue Regiment at Franklin Community High School earned fourth place in Class B in Greenwood.

Indian Creek’s Marching Braves performed in the scholastic class at Greenwood. Greenwood’s Marching Woodmen and Irish Guard marched in exhibition as the band of the host school.

Parade goers at the Franklin Fall Festival will catch a glimpse of the Blue Regiment as they march in the event this weekend.

Whiteland and Greenwood will march at Ben Davis. Center Grove will take a competition week off before hosting their own Cavalcade of Champions on Oct. 8.
