INDIANAPOLIS — A jury has found a Detroit man guilty of two counts of kidnapping for abducting and holding for ransom the teenage siblings of his ex-girlfriend after she allegedly stole money and drugs from him.

John Thomas also was found guilty one count of conspiracy to commit kidnapping Monday following a six-day trial. Federal prosecutors say they will seek life in prison for the 39-year-old man when he’s sentenced Dec. 8.

Federal prosecutors charged Thomas and five other people in connection with the March 2, 2015, abduction of 6-year-old Aaron Blackwell and his 13-year-old sister, Emma, from their Indianapolis home at gunpoint. Prosecutors alleged the six took the teens to Detroit. Police there freed the boy, and the girl eventually was let go by her alleged abductors.
