Center Grove schools issued the following statement:

Center Grove Schools would like to thank all of the agencies that assisted the Center Grove Police Department in the search to safely bring home a Center Grove student who was the subject of an Amber Alert earlier today.

On Tuesday, September 27, 2016, around 10:50 a.m., the mother of a North Grove Elementary School student came to pick up her child at the front office. The mother was listed as a custodial parent in the student’s records.

Approximately 30 minutes later, the child’s father arrived at the school with a court
order issued that morning that provided him with sole custodial rights for the child. Because the child had already been released to her mother, the father called 911. The Center Grove Police Department (CGPD) was dispatched immediately.

CGPD took all necessary actions, including requesting an Amber Alert be issued, to try to find the child. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, Greenwood Police Department, and other state and local agencies joined CGPD in their search for the girl and her mother.

At approximately 2:20 p.m., an Amber Alert was issued. The girl was located by the Greenwood Police Department at approximately 2:40 p.m. She was unharmed. This situation is still under investigation.

All Center Grove schools are equipped with secure entrances, which require any visitors to be buzzed in before gaining access to the school. All procedures and protocols were followed in this situation.

Update: 3:30 p.m.
Shortly after a court ruled her father would get sole custody, a 7-year-old girl was taken from a Center Grove school.

Hours later, 7-year-old Isabella Negri was found safe in Greenwood, shortly after an Amber Alert was issued saying she was in danger.

The morning started with an emergency court hearing at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, where the child’s mother, Morgan Negri, didn’t show up, according to court records.

The court ruled that the child’s father should get sole custody, and that visitation for the mother would not be allowed, court records said. The court found that visitation with the mother would be detrimental to the child, and also ordered Morgan Negri to pay $289 for drug testing, which she had failed, according to court records.

The divorce and custody case between Brandon and Morgan Negri has been pending since May 2013, according to court records.

Police issued the Amber Alert just before 2:30 p.m., saying the child was last seen around 10 a.m., and was believed to have been taken by Morgan Negri, according to police.

Update at 3 p.m.
