MORRESVILLE
David J. “Dave” Toombs, 72, of Mooresville, passed away, Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, in Mooresville.
He was born March 22, 1944, in Fort Knox, Kentucky to Jessie C. and Lora (Perry) Toombs. He married Joan J. (Kriz) Toombs on Mary 22, 1965, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she survives. He was a 1962 graduate of Vine Grove High School in Vine Grove, Kentucky. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood, where he was active in the food bank ministry. He was a member of the Central Indiana Woodworkers where he enjoyed making toys for children in central Indiana. He retired in 2012 after 14 years of service at Citizens Energy Group as the general manager of heating and cooling. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Joan J. (Kriz) Toombs of Mooresville; daughters, Tammy Ann Medley (Keith) of Whitehouse, Tennessee, and Lora Buettgen of Mason, Ohio; former son in-law, Edward Buettgen of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Noah Buettgen, Jessica Buettgen, Nicholas Buettgen, Abigail Medley, Annie Medley and Jake Medley; sister, Jeanne Toombs-Robb of Gonales, Louisiana; three nephews, Scott Robb, Jessie Robb, and Joel Robb, and grandniece, Samantha Grace Robb.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Rev. Chris Philbeck will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, 381 N. Bluff Road, Greenwood. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church. Burial with full military honors will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood.
Swartz Family Church and Chapel-Funeral and Cremation Services in Greenwood is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church Food Bank Ministry, 381 N. Bluff Road Greenwood, IN 46142.
