FRANKLIN
Susan Janet Wiseman, 90, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, in Shelbyville. She was a resident of Franklin.
She was born on Oct. 30, 1925, in Gary, to Lyle and Pearl (Kyle) Townsley.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Alan) Bailey Pratt of Fishers, Laura Grant of Martinsville and Susie (Bob) Claxton of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Carrie Northcutt, Lacey Winckelbach, Kelsey Matas, Ryan Claxton, Brady Claxton and Brett Claxton; 15 grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; daughter, Bobbelyn Wiseman; son, Wayne Wiseman; granddaughter, Casey Wiseman; sister, June Fink; and her children’s father, Philip Wiseman.
Susan was a 1943 graduate of Horace Mann High School in Gary and a 1947 graduate of Indiana University, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.
She was an elementary school teacher at Nineveh-Hensley-Jackson School Corporation and later a language arts teacher with the Edinburgh and Center Grove community school corporations. She retired after many years of dedicated teaching from Center Grove High School in 1990. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, teaching sorority.
Susan was a member of Tri-Kappa Sorority. In her younger years, she was actively involved with the Girls Club and was a member of the DAR. She also was involved volunteering with the March of Dimes.
A private family graveside will be conducted.
A celebration of Susan’s life and a reception for family and friends will 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 23 at Hillview Country Club, 1800 E. King St., Franklin.
Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin are assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
