Police seek leads in theft of lawn mower

Daily Journal staff reports

Police are looking for suspects in a theft from a Franklin business and want to speak to people seen inspecting a mower after-hours.

A Dixie Chopper mower was taken by three suspects who cut the cable securing it to other equipment, loaded it on a trailer and drove away from Premier Outdoor, 301 Westview Drive.

The mower was taken about 3:45 a.m. Sunday, according to a Franklin police report. Video from the business and neighboring businesses show the suspects arriving, then leaving with the mower on a trailer. The three male suspects were wearing hoodies and one had a mask on his face, the report said.

Two nights earlier, video showed two people inspecting the mower and the cable, the report said. Police would like to speak to those people, captured in a surveillance photo at 10:45 p.m. Friday, but are not calling them suspects.

The theft was discovered Monday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Franklin police department at 317-346-1141 or the anonymous tip line at 317-346-1100.
