Brothers arrested after fight

Two Franklin brothers were arrested on battery charges after police said they attacked each other.

Anthony Stevens, 54, 698 Kentucky St., was arrested on a charge of battery with a deadly weapon. His brother, William Stevens, who lives at the same address, told police Anthony stabbed him in the chest with a screwdriver, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

William Stevens, 47, was arrested on a charge of battery resulting in moderate injury. Anthony Stevens told police that William struck him in the head with a golf club, the report said.

Police were called to the Kentucky Street home just before 5 a.m. Wednesday. The men told police they were sitting around a campfire late Tuesday when William threatened to skin Anthony’s dog and throw it into the fire. When William Stevens approached his brother, Anthony Stevens stabbed him in the chest, the report said.

Later that night, Anthony Stevens entered the room his brother was sleeping in and William hit him in the head with a golf club, the report said.

Both men were taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital and were treated and released and then were arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail.

William Stevens was held on $1,200 bond. Anthony Stevens was held on $3,300 bond.
