Maurice “Richard” Whetstine

FRANKLIN

Maurice “Richard” Whetstine, 72, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at the Franklin United Methodist Community.

He was born Oct. 16, 1943, in Indianapolis, to his parents, Maurice Edward and Nancy Evelyn (Howard) Whetstine.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. Maurice was a concrete mixer truck driver and was a member of Teamsters Local 135.

Maurice enjoyed fishing, mowing lawns, attending family reunions and spending time with his best friends, Walter and Katherinee Jones.

Maurice is survived by his children, Samuel Whetstine and Joe Whetstine, both of Franklin, and Marie Goodwin of Greenwood; two sisters, Susan (David) Stocklin and Cherie (Jeff) Kean, both of Franklin; two brothers, his twin, David Whetstine of Whiteland and Billy (Jan) Whetstine of Bargersville; a brother-in-law, Jack Kean of Franklin; five grandchildren, Holly Goodwin and Chloe Scott, both of Indianapolis, Zachary Whetstine of Greenwood, and Mercedes Whetstine and Nathaniel Whetstine, both of Franklin; and two family friends, Kim Goldsmith of Columbus and Kathy Morris of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Kay (Goodwin) Whetstine; his parents, Maurice and Nancy Whetstine; a brother, Kenny (“K.O.”) Whetstine; and two sisters, Kathy Kean and Margaret Lynn Whetstine.

Pastor Don Whetstine will be conducting a funeral service at 7 p.m. Thursday at Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel, 197 E. Jefferson St., with a visitation from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

The family will hold a private interment at a later date.
