JERSEY CITY, N.J. — A 19-year-old has been charged with setting his former New Jersey home ablaze, leaving four firefighters hurt, three buildings destroyed and 20 residents displaced.

The Jersey Journal reports (http://bit.ly/2clHKQG ) a criminal complaint says Matthew Nathan was arrested Sunday afternoon and faces charges including aggravated arson and causing a risk of widespread injury.

A Jersey City spokeswoman says Nathan broke into his former apartment — which he had been evicted from — Sunday morning using a ladder and then set two bags of clothing on fire. He then escaped.

Nathan’s bail is jailed on $75,000 cash or bond. His first court appearance is planned for Tuesday.

It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
