Boys cross-country

Cubs fare well at FlashRock InviteSloppy conditions greeted the 50 teams competing at the annual FlashRock Invitational at Northview Christian Church in Carmel on Saturday.

Franklin Community performed well with a 20th-place effort. Leading the way for the Grizzly Cubs was junior Josh Campbell, who placed 21st individually.

Another major event awaits Franklin on Saturday when it hosts the annual Mid-State Conference meet.

Boys tennis

Braves lose at NorthviewIndian Creek dropped a 4-1 decision at Northview in a match closer than the final count indicates.

Cole Harris at No. 2 singles picked up the Braves point by rallying for a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory. Meanwhile, Dalton Campbell’s loss at No. 3 singles came in a three-set marathon, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4.

Also losing a tense match was Indian Creek’s No. 1 doubles team of Bryce Waddell and Scott Russell, 7-5, 7-6.

Volleyball

Lancers win pair at LawrenceburgEdinburgh posted victories against South Dearborn and Switzerland County at the Lawrenceburg Invitational.

The Lancers first dropped a 25-7, 25-18 decision to Hauser before recovering to defeat South Dearborn, 25-21, 25-16.

Greensburg edged the Lancers, 25-22, 25-20, who then ousted Switzerland County, 25-14, 25-16.

Edinburgh improves 12-9 on the season.
