SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a suspect is in custody after a gun was possibly pulled on a trooper during a traffic stop on a Phoenix-area freeway.
The DPS says the trooper was checking the suspect’s documents when the suspect made a furtive movement inside his vehicle and the trooper then heard a loud click that sounded like a gun’s trigger had been pulled without a round in the chamber.
Capt. Damon Cecil says the suspect was briefly pursued after he drove off from the traffic stop on Loop 101 near Scottsdale early Monday morning and was later found hiding in a bush at an apartment complex where his vehicle was found in the parking lot.
