NEWTON, Mass. — Authorities in Massachusetts say a teenager was struck and killed by a commuter train in a Boston suburb.

The Boston Globe reports ( it happened around 8:45 p.m. Friday in Newton on the MBTA’s Worcester/Framingham line.

Transit police say the boy was on the inbound track when he was struck by the train. The boy’s name has not been released.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office is investigating.
