Bantam football league raising cancer awareness

The public is invited to show support for anyone battling cancer, but especially two Center Grove children, during youth football games today.

The Center Grove Bantam Football League is having cancer awareness day today at the youth sports complex, near Whiteland Road and West County Road 144 in Bargersville.

All players will wear a cancer awareness sticker on their helmets, and money is being collected. Before each game begins, officials will have a moment of silence in honor of residents who have died of cancer.

Two elementary school students who participate in the league have cancer and will attend. The public can buy items to raise money for their families.

In addition, residents are asked to donate blood at one of the two bloodmobiles that will be at the fields from 9:30 a.m. until about 2 p.m. Be The Match will register residents to be bone marrow donors.
