Dessie Clarene Miller

Dessie Clarene Miller, 102, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Bargersville.

She was born March 15, 1914, in Franklin, to Clarence L. and Olive (Weddle) Walters.

She married Wayne Miller on Nov. 14, 1940. He preceded her in passing Oct. 25, 1992.

Clarene is survived by three sons, Larry Wayne (Pam) Miller of Indianapolis, Lenny K. (Katie) Miller of Franklin and Danny I. (Linda) Miller of Bargersville; five grandchildren, Jennifer Miller, Eric Miller, Jason Miller, Aaron Miller and Charles Miller; and six great-grandchildren, Payne Miller, Emily Miller, Michael Miller, Aden Miller, Brandon Taylor and Jessica Taylor. She is also survived by one brother, Nolan Walters; and two sisters, Doris Whitaker and Ruby Shirley.

She was a 1934 graduate of Trafalgar High School.

She was a homemaker.

Clarene was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church. She was a former member of the Mt. Carmel Ladies Aide and Indian Springs Golf Course. She enjoyed bowling and playing euchre. She was a devoted IU basketball fan and of coach Bobby Knight. She loved watching the Cincinnati Reds. She was an avid golfer.

Rev. Cleon Wright will conduct a celebration of Clarene’s life at 11 a.m. Monday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Christian Church, c/o Ladies Aide, 2013 W. 750 S., Trafalgar, IN 46181.
