Police: Strangers with van offer child candy

A Greenwood family reported their 7-year-old child was offered candy by a group of people at his bus stop this week.

Just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to a home on Timberline Drive where a child told police he had gotten off his bus and a group of three people wearing all black approached him.

They asked him if he wanted any candy from their van, but the boy said no and continued walking home, according to the Greenwood Police Department report.

The child said he then saw the group drive through the neighborhood in a convertible car, the report said.

Timberline Drive is in a neighborhood at the northwest corner of U.S. 31 and Worthsville Road.

Officers who work on the day shift were told about the boy’s report, the report said.
