NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Authorities are trying to find three mentally disabled men who were believed to be trapped when a western Pennsylvania home caught fire.

Shenango Township firefighters found nobody inside the home Thursday morning, so authorities have been trying to determine what happened to the men, who are all believed to be in their 50s.

Assistant township fire chief Brandon Rishel says a caller reported “three disabled adults inside” about 7:30 a.m. But Rishel says firefighters found nobody inside when they searched the home.

The township is in New Castle, about 45 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

It was not immediately clear what started the fire.
