PHOENIX — Authorities say a Mesa teenager has been arrested in a fatal shooting in Phoenix earlier this month.

Phoenix police say the name of the 17-year-old boy is being withheld because he’s a juvenile.

They say the juvenile admitted to his involvement during an interview with detectives.

He’s been booked into the Maricopa County Juvenile Correctional Center on one count of second-degree murder.

Police say officers responded to a call of numerous shots fired.

They say 24-year-old Rosario Cortez was shot after fighting with the teen suspect.

Cortez was later pronounced dead.
