The National Weather Service in Charleston has posted the watches through Wednesday evening. Early Wednesday morning the center of the storm was near the Florida-Georgia state line and moving north into Georgia where it is forecast to weaken into a depression.
In South Carolina, flood watches are posted from the Charleston area southwest to the Georgia state line.
Forecasters say the storm could bring 3 to 5 inches of rain to some places in South Carolina, particularly along the coast. The most likely time for flash flooding is near the time of high tide Wednesday afternoon.
