Marion (Lyon) Murray Taylor

INDIANAPOLIS

Marion (Lyon) Murray Taylor, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, after complications from a sudden illness.

She was born in West Terre Haute to James and Christina (Duncan) Lyon. She was the youngest of nine children. She was a 1947 graduate of Franklin High School. She was raised at the Indiana Masonic Home School, where she lived from the age of of 11.

She was known as “Aunt Mamie” by many of her nieces and nephews and as “Marin” by some adult family and friends.

Marion was a skilled secretary and retired from AAA Hoosier Motor Club in 2005 after 25 years of service. She also was employed by the Grand Lodge F&AM of Indiana for 32 years.

She was a 50-plus-year member of the Millersville Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 300. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and was an avid follower of the royal family.

Survivors include her loving son, Steven Murray of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Kaitlyn; sister, Christina Lyon Turner of Middleburg Heights, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Edward Murray and William Taylor; brothers, James, Alexander and John; and sisters, Janet, Mary, Jean and Florence Marie.

The Rev. Cleon Wright will conduct a memorial service at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Ransford Chapel of the Indiana Masonic Home, 690 State St., Franklin. Friends may gather from 3 p.m. to service time Saturday at the Ransford Chapel.

Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin, is handling the arrangements.
