Greenwood band earns awards

Marching bands from two local high schools snagged the top three spots and extra awards at area competitions.

The Marching Woodmen and Irish Guard from Greenwood Community High School earned first place in Class B and the second highest overall score of the day at Lafayette Jefferson High School.

They also earned caption awards for best music, visual, general effect, percussion, color guard, drum major and pit crew.

The Blue Regiment of Franklin Community High School competed at the Columbus North Invitational, where they placed third in class AAAA. The band also won two caption awards for best percussion and best color guard.

Bands from Indian Creek, Center Grove and Whiteland did not compete.
