Albert M. Cornell

Albert M. Cornell, 77, of Nineveh, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born May 14, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Albert M. Cornell Sr. and Jeanette (Fisbeck) Cornell.

He married Emily C. (Bartley) Cornell on April 14, 2000, in Edinburgh; she survives.

He worked in the maintenance department of the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin and the past five years was a building inspector for the Town of Princes Lakes.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed fishing, the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals.

Survivors include his wife, Emily C. (Bartley) Cornell of Nineveh; a son, A. Kent Cornell (Deidre) of Martinsville, a daughter, Terri Gilliatt (Brent) of Sanger, Texas; stepdaughter, Judy Ann Froedge of Taylorsville; a brother, Robert Cornell (Darlene) of Morris Hill; four grandchildren, Brandi Cornell of Martinsville, Emily Smith (Josh) of Indianapolis, Laura Hall (Brad) of Maize, Kansas, and Aaron Gilliatt of Indianapolis; and one great-grandchild, Cooper Hall.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark David Bowling on Feb. 5, 1993.

The Rev. Tom Knight will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin with military honors. Friends may call Thursday from 4 p.m. until service time at the mortuary.
