Girls soccer

Whiteland shuts out Lutheran

Hedda Johnsrud scored three goals and Madisyn Proctor had two of her own to lead Whiteland against Lutheran, 10-0, on Thursday.

Other Warriors goals came from Madison Hill along with seniors Emrich, Bridgette Freije, Katie Evans, and Meredith Cavalari. Goalkeepers Leesha Thacker and Jenny Gonzalez teamed for the second shutout of the season.

Playing an outstanding defensive game for Whiteland was Tori Pierson.

Cubs too much for Decatur Central

Senior forward Delanie Hill scored three goals and sophomore midfielder Emilie Hill two for Franklin Community in its 5-1 Mid-State Conference defeat of Decatur Central on Wednesday.

Goalkeeper Allison Barnard did her part with six saves for the Grizzly Cubs.

Grizzly Cubs too much for Hawks

Joe Nerding and Fernando Lopez-Perez each picked up a goal and assist for Franklin Community in its 2-0 victory against Decatur Central.

Senior goalkeeper Austin Barnard recorded nine saves.

The Grizzly Cubs improve to 3-1-1 overall and are 2-0 in the Mid-State Conference standings.

Trojans lose at North Central

Defending state champion Center Grove lost at conference rival North Central, 3-2.

The Trojans’ goals were scored by Jared Wilkerson and Jack Neal.

Volleyball

Lancers defeat Southwestern

Edinburgh improved its season record to 6-5 by rallying for a 22-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-23 victory against Southwestern.

Warriors lose to Bloomington North

Bloomington North downed Whiteland, 25-8, 25-15, 25-6. The Warriors’ Elaina Robards provided her team 11 digs in the loss.

Irmer leads Rebels to win

Junior defensive specialist Hannah Irmer led Roncalli to a 25-19, 28-26, 25-20 victory over visiting Guerin Catholic on Wednesday.

Irmer finished her big night against the Eagles with 19 digs and three service aces.

Girls golf

Edinburgh wins 3-way event

Edinburgh shot a team score of 214 at Deer Valley to defeat Monrovia (230) and Greenwood Christian Academy (254).

Lancers junior Vanessa McManaway picked up medalist honors with a 43, while teammates Kenzie Hill and Madison Giles had a 52 and 57, respectively. Kierra Richards shot 62 for Edinburgh and Savannah Kellams a 63.

Bethany Burton carded a 70.

Boys tennis

Whiteland defeats Mooresville

Whiteland scored a 4-1 victory against visiting Mooresville to improve its record to 5-4.

The Warriors are 2-3 in the Mid-State Conference.

At No. 1 singles, Caleb Scott won his match, 6-1, 6-2. Whiteland also picked up points at No. 2 singles with Cory Ullrich’s 6-0, 6-2 victory and No. 3 singles with Garrison Pelfree’s 6-1, 6-1 win.

In doubles, the No. 1 grouping of Adam Zietlow and Austin Taylor won its match, 6-0, 6-3.

Braves fall to Hauser

Indian Creek lost to Hauser, 3-2.

Victories for the Braves came from Dalton Campbell at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-1) and the top doubles team of Bryce Waddell and Scott Russell (6-1, 6-4).

Indian Creek is now 5-5 overall.

Southwestern tops Lancers

Southwestern picked up victory against Edinburgh.

Winning his match for the Lancers was No. 2 singles player Carlos Pazmino, who scored a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 decision over the Spartans’ Caleb Ferrell.

Coltan Henderson of Edinburgh lose at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) with Gavin Hancock coming up short in No. 3 singles for the Lancers, 6-3, 6-4.

Edinburgh’s top doubles tandem of Blade Elliott and Tommy Schneider lost, 6-0, 6-0; Ryan Gaston and Kegan Jones lost at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 6-1.
