William “Ed” Kinslow, 93, of Franklin, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2016 at his residence.

He was born April 10, 1923 in Glasgow, Kentucky to Austin and Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Bridges) Kinslow.

He married Christine “Mamie” (Proffitt) Kinslow; she preceded him in death in 1975. He then married Ida Elizabeth (Richards) Witt Kinslow on Aug. 6, 1977 in New Palestine; she survives.

He had been a machinist for the Ford Motor Co. in Indianapolis for 26 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and served in the European theater in Germany and at the Battle of the Bulge.

He was a member of Whiteland V.F.W. Post 5864.

He enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, playing cards, continuing his interest from his early days in farming and agriculture.

He and his wife Ida enjoyed spending the winters in Florida for 26 years.

Survivors include his wife Ida Elizabeth (Richards) Witt Kinslow of Franklin; a daughter, Nancy C. Hutton (Sherrill) of Greenfield; two stepdaughters, Linda A. Mathena (Tom) of Franklin and Patty Taylor-Richards of Kirland, Washington; a grandson, Scott Keith Hutton (Angie) of Mountain View, California; four step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; 10 10 step-great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Alice Powell of Indianapolis; his canine companion Mr. Syd; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Christine (Proffitt) Kinslow; and two sisters, Jewell Allgood and Mary D. Steinbergen.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin. A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. (Central time) on Saturday at A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home, 201 E. Washington St., Glasgow, Kentucky, with visitation from 11 a.m. till service time at the funeral home in Kentucky. Burial with full military honors will be in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery in Glasgow, Kentucky.
