William “Bill” A. Showalter

GREENWOOD

William “Bill” A. Showalter, known as “Doc” to his friends, 85, of Greenwood, passed away on Aug. 20, 2016.

He was born on Oct. 1, 1930 in Indianapolis.

William was a graduate of Warren Central High School in 1948. He attended Butler University in Indianapolis, and Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, Illinois.

He was a staff sergeant, USAF, 1951-1955.

He retired as an automotive instructor at Central Nine Career Center, where he taught from 1978-1991. He also taught as an automotive instructor at Edinburgh High School from 1969 to 1978.

William is survived by his children, John David (Laura) Showalter, Steven Michael (Lori) Showalter and Cynthia Lou Showalter; grandchildren, Andrea (Schulyer) Shaver, Anthony Showalter, Cory White, Katelyn White, Ashley (Ben) Shaffer and Zachary Showalter; and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Sophie Shaffer.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., with visitation from 2 p.m. until the service time, on Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood. Cremation will take place.
