Sedatives stolen from animal hospital

The sheriff’s office is investigating a break-in at an animal hospital, where cash and sedatives were stolen.

An employee of Briarcrest Animal Hospital, 167 S. State Road 135, told a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputy that the back door of the business was open when he got to work just before 7 a.m. Tuesday. Inside, office drawers were open and cash had been taken, the sheriff’s office report said.

The medicine cabinet in the surgery room had been gone through, and 100 bottles of a sedative used in treating animals had been taken. A crime-scene technician was called to search for evidence, and the investigation is ongoing.
