Hearts & Darts – August 29

Hearts

  • Huge hearts to the Franklin Lions Club, which sponsored and built the Little Free Library at the end of the StoryWalk at the Urban Forest. Lions Jennifer Baltz and Chris and Kahlan Harden assembled the little library (no easy feat), Franklin Parks and Rec installed the little library and the Friends of the Johnson County Public Library supplied the first batch of books. What an excellent example of organizations in the community coming together to promote literacy and learning for youth. Please stop by the StoryWalk to read the new story and take home a book of your very own.

  • Hearts to Jeff Street Pub for providing the pleasant outdoor seating area and the “watering stations” for the pets this summer.

  • A big thank-you to the two gentlemen who picked me up when I fell off my mower on Aug. 12. I did not get your names. One was wearing a suit and tie but did not seem to care if he got dirty — and I was in a muddy ditch. The other man was in a work van and probably taking time from his job. I could have cut my foot off because the tractor was still moving and mower still cutting. Both were very nice, caring men. They are guardian angels. God bless both of them.
