Osey S. Bryant Jr., 89, of Greenwood, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Aspen Trace in Greenwood.
He was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Scottsville, Kentucky. to Osey S. Bryant Sr. and Lula Lee (Buchanan) Bryant. He married Betty Sue (Harston) Bryant on Jan. 31, 1948, in Franklin, Kentucky, they had celebrated 64 years of marriage when she preceded him in death on April 17, 2012.
He retired in 1982 as a machinist for General Motors Allison Transmission Division in Indianapolis after 32 years of service. He was a member of United Auto Workers Union local 933. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II.
He enjoyed spending time with all of his family and traveling with his late wife Betty.
Survivors include his three daughters, Shelia S. Layton of Bargersville, Beverly J. Dougherty (Jeff) of Trafalgar and Patricia A. Bertram (Chuck) of New Whiteland; six grandchildren Malinda Layton of Bargersville, Shawn Layton (Whitney) of Bargersville, Bryan Dougherty (Brittany) of Bargersville, Carrie Ford (Ryan) of Greenwood, Zachary Bertram (Al) of Madison, Wisconsin and Willie Bertram of Greenwood; seven great grandchildren, Taylor Cooley (Brandon) of Greenwood, Alexis Layton of Greenwood, Tommy Layton of Greenwood, Luke Dougherty of Bargersville, Neil Dougherty of Bargersville, Piper Ford of Greenwood, and Parker Ford of Greenwood; one great great grandchild, Cassie Jo Cooley; a nephew, Dempsey Cline (Julia) of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty; son-in-law, William Layton; brother, John Levi Bryant, and a sister Mildred Cline.
Randy Pim will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors.
