LeRoy Conner, age 71, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at his residence in Franklin.

He was born Dec. 23, 1944 in Whiteland, to Carl Russell and Mary Louise (Edmonds) Conner. He married Rosemarie “Rose” (Mattimore) Conner on Oct. 20, 1989. She lovingly survives.

Other survivors include three children, Dawn LeAnn (Matt) Galvin of Lafayette, Clint (Holly) Conner of Franklin and Seth (Kelli) Nevins of New Whiteland. Other survivors include the mother of Dawn and Clint, Phyllis Conner; grandchildren, Jesse, Emma and Wyatt Galvin; Justin, Seth and Sloan Conner and Alyssa Rennaker, Brittany  Rennaker (Kyler) Castro, Jacob Nevins and Mackenzie Nevins; five great-grandsons; and two sisters, Elizabeth Mills, Humble, Texas and Mary VanDevender, Lawton, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in passing by one brother, Carl Eugene “Zeb” Conner.

LeRoy was a graduate of Franklin High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp., serving during the Vietnam War. LeRoy retired from the United States Army after 32 years of service as a Master Sgt.

He was a member of the Edinburgh American Legion and the VFW in Franklin. He was a former Mason. LeRoy enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid golfer. He so enjoyed ginseng and mushroom hunting.

A celebration of LeRoy’s life will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street (U.S. 31 North), in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted following the service by the Franklin American Legion Post No. 205 and the United States Marine Corp.
