Young Veterans gathering planned at post

Veterans who have served in the military since 1990 are invited to a special gathering at the Greenwood VFW post this month.

The “Young Veterans” get-together is planned for Saturday at VFW Post 5864, 333 S. Washington St., in the post’s shelter house. Any veteran is welcome to attend.

“Super” Dave Everett, a DJ and post member, will begin playing music at 4 p.m.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served with potato salad, coleslaw and chips. Beer will be provided; cocktails will be available to purchase.

The sixth annual National Guard Association of Indiana Motorcycle Ride for Professional Development will meet at 12:30 p.m. that day at the VFW. The group will leave the post at 2:30 p.m., do a lap around Indianapolis via Interstate 465, cruise the circle downtown and return to the Greenwood VFW.

Maj. Gen. Corey Carr, adjutant general of the Indiana National Guard, will lead the ride around Indianapolis.

To ride in the event, you can pre-register at ngai.net before Thursday, or register on the day of the event at the VFW. Cost is $25 for a single rider or driver and $35 for a couple. For registration information, contact John Pitt at 317-677-6189 and or [email protected].
